Radiation brought benefits in medical imaging diagnosis investigation but also has negative impacts to patients and medical workers. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the knowledge and perception on radiation among medical students in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM ). Materials and Methods: This research was a cross sectional study design that was conducted in FMHS, UPM from 4ᵗʰ April to 8ᵗʰ August 2016. The questionnaire was modified based on previous study. The self-administrated questionnaires were distributed among 519 medical students in FMHS, UPM by using simple random sampling method. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 22 was used to analyse the data. Results : Generally, the response rate was 99.2%. Majority of respondents had low level of knowledge on radiation (51.7%) and 5 1.1% of respondents had poor perception on radiation. The presence of experience on radiation among respondents showed high knowledge on radiation (p<0.001). Higher Year of study among respondents also showed more knowledge on radiation (p<0.001). There was significant association between experience on radiation and perception status (p=0.006) and also significant association between year of study and perception status (p<0.001). Conclusion : Overall, respondents had low level of knowledge and poor perception on radiation. In suggestions, certain measures or efforts must carry out to raise the knowledge and perception related to radiation among medical students so that health service quality can be improved.
