TY - THES TY - BOOK T1 - Performance evaluation of hydraulic system for the automated oil palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) collector machine to improve field capacity A1 - Megat Muhammad Irfan Megat Mohd Safawi, LA - English UL - http://discoverylib.upm.edu.my/discovery/Record/597683 AB - The development of automated oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) collector machines by Sime Darby is not satisfied by the industry as the movement speed is still slow. So, improvements are needed, and this project suggests improvements that can be made to the structure and hydraulics system of the machine. The objective of this project is to analyse the frame structure of the FFB collector arms and the hydraulics components of the system. The method used in this project is to sketch the FFB collector machines' arms and label the dimension. The drawing of the 2D diagram of the component has also been done by using AutoCAD to find the Centre of Mass of the frame. Calculating the frame's mass has been done based on the density of the structure. Analysis of the hydraulics components has been made by calculating the movement speed of the cylinder to retract or extract. The force analysis was done to find the forces exerted by the hydraulics cylinder. However, a comparison with the used cylinder cannot be made as the specification of the cylinder is not obtainable. This project gives a better understanding of the next step in determining a better method of hydraulics analysis. some suggestions can be given to the manufacturers, such as increasing the flow of the fluid through the system and using a frame with a lesser weight as both factors influence the movement of the cylinder.
