AB  - Summary: Fourteen thousand specimens were examined and a large number of both internal and external features were explored. 154 Indo-Pacific clupeoid species are recognised. The majority of these 154 species are inshore, coastal fishes, but 19 are estuarine or anadromous, 22 species are endemic to rivers near the equator. Special attention was paid to illustrations of the species and of the anatomical features
