Achoimre:Rubberwood has mechanical strength properties comparable to those of some popular local furniture timbers such as dark red meranti, light red meranti, sepetir, nyatoh and ramin.Though the overall strength properties are comparable, the bending strength under static loads of rubberwood is slightly inferior to that of the other popular local furniture timbers. Under compressive load parallel to grain, rubberwood is also stronger than dark red meranti and light red meranti. This is also true in the case of the hardness of the timbers. Rubberwood also has higher shear strengths than those of meranti and ramin. Rubberwood, however, is weaker than nyatoh and sepetir in all strength properties. According to the strength grouping of Malaysian timbers (Engku Abdul Rahman 1978) rubberwood falls under the strength group C.
