| Streszczenie: | The involvement of plasmids in the resistance of seven soil strains of Pseudomonas sp. to the herbicide paraquat, antibiotics tetracyline and carbenicillin, and to mercuric chloride were examined. DNA analysis showed that six of the strains harbour one plasmid molecule each, while the seventh strain harbours two plasmids. Five of these plasmids, four of which code for both paraquat and mercuric chloride resistance, and one codes for paraquat resistance only, were able to be conjugationally transmitted to Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO. Whether the plasmids specifity for paraquat-degrading enzymes or simply increased tolerance against the herbicide, is still not known. |
