The average dry matter yield of Brachiaria decumbens, Pennisetum purpureum, Panicum maximum, Setaria sphacelata cv. Kazungula and Brachiaria mutica was 13.15, 12.05, 9.36, 8.23 and 6.97 t/ha per year respectively. The average dry matter yield of L. leucocephala (ML1) was 7.75 t/ha per year. There was no significant difference between 6 weeks and 8 weeks cutting frequencies on dry matter yield of the grasses tested. The average dry matter yield of all grasses in the second year was significantly lower (7.75 t/ha) than that of the first year (11.97 t/ha).
