The objective of the study was to determine the parent’s knowledge, attitude and practices toward falls at home among children below five years old. A cross-sectional study design was conducted on the staff with children below five years old in University Putra Malaysia. Data was collected using pre-tested self-administrated Bahasa Malaysia and English questionnaire. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 16.0. The response rate was (76.9%) (n=400). The overall mean age was 35±5.42 years. Majority were Malays (90.5%) and academic staff (61.2%). There was significant association between falls at home among children and parent’s knowledge (t = 1.924, p= 0.049). There was also significant association between respondent’s number of children and falls at home among children (x^2= 12.838, p< 0.05). There was also no significant association between parents’ attitude (t= 0.844, p=0.399) and practice (t=0.393, p=0.695) with falls among children. Negelkerke R Square suggested that 4.2% of the variation in falls at home among children is explained by the parent’s knowledge and educational level. This shows that knowledge and educational level were protective factors for falls at home. The higher of parent’s knowledge and educational level decreases risk of falls among children under five years. There is a need for developing educational programs on falls, first aid and prevention of falls among the staff in UPM. Further large scale studies in the prevention of falls among children are also needed.
