Sound waves and stars the Doppler effect /
Why does the sound of a passing train or car suddenly change as it goes by? A young scientist, Christian Doppler found that sound waves ahead of a moving source increase in frequency and that the frequency of the waves behind such a source decrease. This is called the Doppler effect.
