The high possibility that young obese children may continue to suffer from obesity as they grow up is high. In Malaysia however, the problem is just merely getting serious and with early precaution steps may save our children from plunging into the same footsteps as the westerners did. That is why this study is important to identify the factors involved in influencing childhood obesity in our country. On average, Children BMI were 18.5 and predominantly higher BMI in males than in females. There were 9.9 percent of obese children, 17.1 percent overweight and 73 percent were normal weight. The lack of vigorous physical activity was found to be the main factor influencing the obesity level among children. Students who were normal of weight spend 68 minutes per day on vigorous activity for at least 3 days per week. Examples of vigorous activity would be football, track running, badminton and any sport like activity. High sedentary physical activity like sleeping and watching television would increase the risk of obesity. The Chinese students have 24.1 percent tendencies to be obese compare to Malay and Indian races. This is because of the high sedentary and the low vigorous physical activity the Chinese lifestyle comprises of. Male children tend to have higher BMI compare to female children. However to explain this condition, more study have to be done to determine the factor. This is because although male have higher BMI but their vigorous physical activity is significantly higher than the females.
