Summary:Abstract: Background: The importance of research for development of countries is extensively acknowledged. The research experience has classically been recognized as a crucial part of medical education. With increasing emphasis being placed upon evidence-based medicine and the application o f scientific research to clinical practices. it is becoming increasingly important for medical professionals to possess some understanding f scientific principles and methods to be skillful at acquisition and critical appraisal of new information. Aim: To determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of medical students towards Research Methodology and Project module (RMP) in Faculty) of Medicine and Health Sciences(FMHS). Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). 2014. Methodology: This is a cross sectional study using self-administered questionnaire distributed to Year 3 and Year 5 medical students who have completed the Research Methodology and Project module in Year 2 and are available during data collection. Results: Among the 215 questionnaires distributed to the Year 3 and Year 5 medical students, 194 responded. with an overall response rate o f 90.23%. O f 194 students. 73.7% of medical students were having good knowledge, only 2.6% of medical students were having positive attitude and 92.3% of medical students were having poor practice on Research Methodology and Project Module. There is no significant difference in the knowledge and practice score of Year 3 and Year 5 medical students (p>0.05) meanwhile there is a significant difference in the attitude score of Year 3 and Year 5 medical students (p<0.05). Null hypothesis is rejected. attitude score for Year 3 medical students (median=77.0) is higher than attitude score o f Year medical students (median=71.0). The result shows socio-demographic characteristics recorded a p-value of more than 0.05, and so it shows that there is no statistically significant association between gender, ethnicity, religion. year o f study, with the knowledge, attitude and practice level of Year 3 and Year 5 medical students on Research Methodology and Project Module. Conclusion: The Year 3 and Year 5 medical students sampled reported a good knowledge, negative attitude and poor practice towards Research Methodology and Project module.
