Summary:Glycosmis species is is well know to contain a large number of interesting secondary metabolites such as flavonoids,coumarins ,alkoids,sulphurcontaining amides etc.In this work,three species of glycosmis colleted from Bogor Botanical garden,Bogor (Glycosmis elongata,G. cochinchinensis and G. citrifolia) and one species from sabah (Glycosmis chlorosperma), have been investigated in detail. Extraction of the leaves and stem barks and separation by various chromatographic techniques led to the isolation of a number of compound the structures of the compounds were elucidated by using spectroscopic techniques (ultraviolet,infrared,nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectra) and also by comparison with the previous.the crude extracts and isolated compounds were tested for their antimicrobial,antioxidant and cytotoxic activities using disc diffusion,1,1 -diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging and [3-(4,5-dimethylt hiazol-2-yl)_2,5 - diphenyltetrazolium bromide] (MTT) methods,respectively.
