As such, forest management planning is of prime importance to facilitate the "paradigm shift" from timber yield management to multiple-use forest resources management (THANG 1995). This Report compares the exixting forest management planning procedures in Peninsular Malaysia with the relevant standards of the "ITTO Guidelines for the Sustainable Management of Natural Tropical Forests" (1990) and ITTO`s "Criteria for the Measurement of Sustainable Tropical Forest Management" (1992).
