Summary:Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is an important viral disease of poultry. An experiment was carried out to determine the effects of very virulent infectious bursal disease virus infections in Japanese quails. A total of ninety commercial Japanese quails of 4-week-old were segregated into 2 groups namely the control and IBD groups. The IBD group challenged quails were inoculated with a total of 0.1ml of vvIBDV identified as UPM 0311; 0.05ml was inoculated via intraocular route followed by 0.05ml given orally with the viral titer of 10 EID50/0.1ml.
